Melbourne-based artist Julia DeVille has been awarded the $10,000 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize with a moving piece titled Sorrow.

A ruby-encrusted stillborn taxidermy fawn laid out on a silver platter hardly meets the stereotype of sculpture, however DeVille’s work captivated the Judges with its delicate and emotive presence, able to hold its own as a considered object.
