Too little, too late, too confusing? The funding criteria for the arts COVID package is a mess

Numerous question remain about the Federal Government's support of the arts sector during COVID, including the fact that the Minister will decide which grants to approve.

Last Tuesday, seven months after the sector closed down in March, applications opened for the government’s COVID-19 arts relief package, named “Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand”, or RISE.

A$75 million will be allocated between 2020 and 2021, but a close read of the criteria for this new funding program raises more questions than it answers.
