Architect Jeremy McLeod from Breathe Architecture aimed to create the sustainable residential development in Australia. The result was The Commons in inner-city Melbourne.

Described as a vertical eco-village, The Commons won the Victorian Architecture Awards for both apartment residential living and sustainable architecture. In this interview with Stephen Crafti, McLeod explains how he stripped out unnecessary costs and applied the funds to changes that would paysocial and environmental dividends.
