The Board of Melbourne Chamber Orchestra has announced Sophie Rowell as the organisation’s new Artistic Director, marking a new era for the MCO, and the third to take the role in MCO’s 30-plus year history.
As a well respected and recognised violinist, Rowell has been Concertmaster of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra since 2015, was founder of the Tankstream Quartet, appointed to the Australian String Quartet and was winner of the 2000 ABC Young Performer’s Award.
