Cochrane Smith Award winner announced

Sound researcher, composer and sound artist, Dr. Ros Bandit from the University of Melbourne, was awarded the 2012 NFSA Cochrane Smith Award for Sound Heritage at Melbourne Town Hall last Sunday.

As director of the newly-developed, nationwide Australian Sound Design Project, aimed at database and research facility dedicated to the study of sound design in public space, Dr. Bandt has been the recipient of many international awards for her work in interactive sound sculptures, installations, sound playgrounds and spatial music systems. She has received the highest honour for an Australian composer—the Don Banks Composers Award—as well as the Sound Art Australia prize.
