Career success for arts grads

The stereotype of the unemployed arts graduate has turned out to be rather inaccurate, according to new research.

‘An Arts graduate with a career? I’d like to see that’ read the smug engineering student’s stubby holder at university BBQs. But, according to new research, the stereotype of the unemployed arts graduate is looking less and less true.

A new survey by Professor Stuart Cunningham and Dr Ruth Bridgstock of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT)found that eighty per cent of arts and humanities graduates are employed full-time in careers that match their skills.
