Sharing your latest work with your Facebook friends, tweeting an image or posting it on a relevant Pinterest board is a cheap and effective way to raise an artist’s profile but it has hidden costs. Once a video, track or image is online there is a danger it will be copied and circulated without any credit – let alone remuneration for creative effort.
