Ticketing Manager
Newtheatricals is looking for an experienced and hands-on Ticketing Manager to join our team in Sydney.

Newtheatricals with its CEO, Rodney Rigby, is an Olivier Award winner and Tony nominated theatre producer committed to bringing extraordinary stories to the stage in Australia and across the world. Past productions include Jersy Boys, Come From Away (Broadway, London Toronto, US Tour, Australia), currently touring Art staring Richard Roxburgh, Damon Herriman and Toby Schmitz and now in production Ceilidh (Kay-lee) a new musical (UK, North America, Australia).
Newtheatricals is small, committed team based in Haymarket, Sydney.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to establish one of the leading international ticketing platforms for the first time in Australia, to operate and deliver ticketing services and an excellent customer experience for a site-specific theatrical production.
The Ticketing Manager will be responsible for:
- Planning and deploying ticketing strategies and operations for the production.
- Inventory and Box Office yield management.
- Ensure all seat inventory is configured and built correctly, validated and working to full capacity to maximise the sale of all ticketing products.
- Manage seating holds and releases, dynamic ticket pricing and fees to optimise sales, operational efficiencies and organisational priorities.
- Work with the FOH Manager during events for all ticketing operational matters including resolution of seating/ticketing issues and operation of scanning systems and equipment.
- Work closely and productively with the relevant stakeholders to contribute to well targeted and effective marketing strategies.
- Make operational decisions in a high-pressure environment, including managing patron issues and system‑related challenges.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with a range of stakeholders, including patrons, marketing and publicity teams, internal teams and external partners.
- Support staff training, induction and development to ensure consistent knowledge across ticketing systems, processes and products.
- Ensure operational accuracy, including daily reconciliations, reporting requirements, weekly settlements and minimising bad debts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by providing feedback and supporting initiatives that enhance systems, processes and service delivery.
- Ensure consistent adherence to Live Performance Australia (LPA) guidelines and Privacy Legislation in all ticketing activities.
About You
We are looking for a ticketing professional with enthusiasm and drive to innovate and lead this unique opportunity. The ideal candidate:
- Has sound working knowledge of various ticketing systems, ideally in theatre production settings, and/or event day operations.
- Be customer-focused team leader with proven experience delivering results in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven experience supervising or leading customer service teams in a busy or high‑pressure environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a computerised ticketing environment. I.T. literacy essential – Windows Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook). Familiarity and aptitude with a significant number of different ticketing systems, products and websites/apps.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support team members locally and remotely.
- High‑level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations professionally and quickly to achieve positive outcomes.
- Possess initiative and demonstrate the ability to proactively ensure that business deadlines and needs are met.
- Act with integrity and professionalism, and be accountable for achieving results.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, the arts and entertainment industry.
Hours of Work
Generally standard 38 hours, however due to the nature of this role, work may be required outside of business hours and on the weekend from time to time to meet production needs with advance notice. This role is full-time and office based.
Salary
$85,000 plus Superannuation.
