Are you passionate about delivering high‑quality lighting services in a live performance environment? If you have strong hands‑on lighting experience and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, collaborative technical team, we invite you to apply for the Senior Theatre Technician – Lighting position at Redland City Council.
This role supports events and productions across the Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) and Redland Art Gallery (RAG) working with professional and community clients to deliver safe, seamless and high‑quality outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering professional lighting and technical services for events and productions across RPAC and RAG.
- Interpreting and executing lighting and technical production requirements.
- Setting up, operating, fault‑finding and maintaining lighting systems and associated production equipment.
- Supporting bump‑in, bump‑out and event operations.
- Providing technical guidance and supervision to entry‑level technicians as required.
- Acting as Technical Duty Supervisor when required.
- Working collaboratively with team members, clients and other Council departments.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and industry standards.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated hands‑on technical experience within the Creative Arts or similar industries.
- Strong lighting experience within a live performance, venue or events environment.
- High‑level knowledge of contemporary theatre lighting equipment and systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, hands‑on team environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills when working with internal and external clients.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices in performance and venue settings.
- Relevant entertainment industry, trade or tertiary qualifications, along with experience using hand and power tools in a theatre or events environment, will be highly regarded but are not essential.
- Current or previous industry‑related certifications and tickets are desirable but not essential, and may include Test and Tag, Rigger’s, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Scaffolding, Work at Heights, Level 2 First Aid, Working with Children Check (Blue Card), and experience using CAD programs such as Vectorworks.

Eligibility:
- You’ll hold a current C class driver’s licence.
- You’ll be available to work flexible hours in line with venue operations, including evenings and weekends.
- You’ll have demonstrated hands‑on experience within the Creative Arts or similar industries.
