Senior Producer

The Senior Producer plays a key role in contributing to the successful delivery of Chunky Move’s annual program.

The Senior Producer plays a key role in contributing to the successful delivery of Chunky Move’s annual program as envisioned by the Artistic Director. The role reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the whole team to deliver the annual program.

The Senior Producer is responsible for working closely with the team to ensure the efficient planning, management and realisation of Chunky Move’s program of activities with an emphasis on major program outcomes driven by the Artistic Director and/or commissioned independent artists. This includes but is not limited to the producing of new work, tour preparation/management, grant writing, reporting, and public programs delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Delivery of Chunky Move’s Annual Program

  • Assist the Executive Director in producing the company’s major works and annual program of activities, including national and international touring, and liaising with performers, creatives, partners and presenters.
  • Assist the Artistic Director and Executive Director in developing future annual programs of activities and their budgets.
  • Regularly monitor the delivery of all projects in conjunction with the Production & Operations Manager and the Marketing & Communications Manager
  • Independently lead the delivery of selected projects, ensuring their realisation to the highest possible standard within allocated budgets, resources and timelines
  • Oversee and provide guidance to core and contract producing team members
  • Provide producing support to programmed artists in the development of their projects/programs.
  • Lead the implementation of access services for Chunky Move programs, including researching services, engaging and liaising with service providers and supporting outreach to relevant target audiences.
  • In conjunction with the Artistic Director and/or Office and Program Coordinator, develop, manage and/or contribute to program selection processes as required.
  • Report regularly to the Executive Director on progress and alert in a timely fashion of any issues that may require Executive or Board input.
  • Convene and minute regular Program Meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of marketing strategies for the Company’s works and programs.

 

National and International Market Development

  • Maintain high-level knowledge of Australian and International presenters and opportunities.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain strong relationships with national and international presenters, festivals, artists, artistic companies, producers, networks and stakeholders to enhance organisational profile and outreach, seek presentation and/or partnership opportunities for the company and/or its programmed artists.
  • Represent Chunky Move in industry contexts as negotiated with the Executive Director and Artistic Director, including national and international arts markets, conferences, festivals and/or other sector gatherings.

 

Company Management

  • Negotiate, draft and/or issue contracts with contractors and artists and manage the company’s employment and contractual relationships in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • Oversee company management of performers and creative team including tracking general working conditions and monitoring wellbeing.
  • Provide a central communication point for all matters related to performer liaison and the program of activities.
  • Lead travel and visa requirements for outbound and inbound travel for contracted artists, crew and creatives with administrative support from the Office and Program Coordinator.

 

Funding & Stakeholder Management

  • Contribute to the Annual Program Document for funding statistics.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director prepare funding submissions, progress reports and acquittals for grants as required.

 

Financial Management

  • Oversee financial administration in relation to projects in conjunction with Executive Director and external Finance Administrator. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
    • Prepare & generate project budgets in liaison with Executive Director
    • Managing and monitoring project budgets in liaison with Executive Director
    • Oversee and/or approve invoices in conjunction with the Office and Program Coordinator and Finance Administrator.
    • Contribute to financial acquittals and financial reports to funding bodies as required.

 

Company Business/Compliance

  • Manage the Workcover needs of contracted artists and creatives including processing claims and contributing to the annual return in liaison with the Finance Administrator.
  • Draft all contractual agreements for program activities and other contracts in liaison with the Executive Director including licenses for the use of Chunky Move intellectual property.
  • Ensure Performer Awards, allowances and agreements are in line with the Live Performance Award and liaise with unions and professional associations as required regarding employment conditions and employer obligations.
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
