Section First Violin

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is seeking a Section First Violin to join the Orchestra.

Established in 1906, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is Australia’s oldest orchestra and a leading contemporary arts institution. Annually, the MSO reaches more than 2.5 million people through live and recorded performances and broadcasts, and hosts over 300,000 attendees at concerts, including at its home venue, Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne, and at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for the Orchestra’s annual free concert series. Through its Education and Community Engagement programs, the MSO delivers innovative musical experiences for audiences of all ages throughout Victoria.

Audition date: Monday 1st & Tuesday 2nd December 2025

Requirements: First and Second movements of Mozart Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major OR No. 5 in A Major, including cadenzas, with piano or orchestral accompaniment,

PLUS

First movement of a standard 19th/20th century concerto, (cadenza not required, except in the case of the Sibelius concerto), with piano or orchestral accompaniment
