Melbourne Theatre Company is looking for a proactive, people-focused Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety culture and ensure our staff, artists, and audiences all thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
This is a unique opportunity to bring your expertise to one of Australia’s leading performing arts organisations, where no two days look the same. From office spaces to rehearsal rooms, workshop floors and bustling theatre venues, you’ll play a vital role in shaping how safety is understood, practised and valued across the Company.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on strengthening and evolving our Health & Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with legislation and keeping pace with industry best practice. You’ll partner closely with teams across the organisation and with the University of Melbourne to manage risk, support compliance, and deliver clear and confident governance.
You’ll oversee audits, reporting and incident management, drive continuous improvement, and run engaging training that builds capability and confidence at all levels. Most importantly, you’ll be a trusted and approachable advisor, who can translate complex safety requirements into practical, people-first solutions.
