OPPORTUNITY  Carriageworks is seeking a Head of Finance to oversee all accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis activities for Carriageworks. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert guidance to our CEO, General Manager, and department leaders on financial, operational, and strategic matters. You’ll also engage with the Chair, Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, as well as Board members, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and best practices.

 

This is a part-time role, 4 days per week.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DAY TO DAY

As the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of crucial functions aimed at safeguarding and optimising Carriageworks’ financial health and strategic direction. Your key duties will include:

 

·         Developing and enforcing financial policies, systems, and processes to fortify the organisation’s financial position.   

·         Ensuring compliance with Accounting Standards in the preparation of financial reporting.

·         Coordinating the strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for Carriageworks, engaging key stakeholders across finance and the business. 

·         Analysing and presenting reports to the Carriageworks Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, as well as the Board 

·         Tracking, reporting, and analysing budget variances.

·         Reviewing and providing recommendations for the ongoing development of financial systems.   

·         Managing Carriageworks’ insurance policies and claims.

·         Providing financial expertise and support for grant applications and acquittals.

·         Preparing and submitting financial submissions to government agencies including ACNC, Create NSW and Creative Australia.  

·         Offering project modelling support for event-related activities in collaboration with the programming team and event producers.

·         Overseeing the annual external audit process.

 

PREFERRED CRITERIA  

 

·         CA/CPA Qualification

·         Extensive knowledge and understanding of financial management in the not for profit sector, including grants management, regulatory requirements and Accounting Standards. 

·         Strong financial modelling with an ability to understand business drivers and prepare financial analysis as required (eg, whole of organisation, department, event reporting, cost allocation).

·         Demonstrated experience in the administration of payroll. Ability to interpret and apply Industrial Awards and Agreements.  

·         Demonstrated experience in budget preparation. 

·         An understanding of Arts and Aboriginal culture with a direct commitment to work in alignment with these values.
