Finance Administrator

Malthouse Theatre is looking for a part-time (0.4FTE) Finance Administrator with a focus on payroll to assist the Finance Manager.

Assisting the Finance Manager in the small accounts team, the Finance Administrator role mainly focusses on processing the weekly payroll, while assisting with other accounting duties as required.

 

Main duties

  • Process weekly payroll for approx 30 permanent staff and up to 50 casuals and seasonal employees
  • Prepare weekly PayDay super contributions
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records
  • Record employee wage expenses in the accounting system with the correct job costings for each project
  • Prepare monthly reports for Finance Manager to remit PAYG to ATO
  • Respond to payroll queries from Malthouse employees and actors agents
  • Scanning of petty cash receipts and credit card purchases
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as required

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • competent in using Microsoft Excel
  • good attention to detail
  • proven data entry experience
  • strong mental arithmetic skills
  • basic knowledge of accounting principles including assets, liablities, revenue and expenses
  • the ability to interpret Awards and employment contracts
  • able to work with some autonomy and meet deadlines

 

This is a part-time role of 2 days a week on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, based at 113 Sturt Street. The admin offices are on level 2 and only accessible by stairs. A Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping is highly regarded but not essential as on-the-job training will be provided. 

 

Prior knowledge of the Live Performance Award 2020 and Performers Collective Agreement 2024-2026 is an advantage.
