Position Description – EXHIBITIONS MANGER
Reports to: General Manager, TarraWarra Museum of Art
Special Conditions: Openings of exhibitions are on Sundays 3-4 x per year and the Exhibitions Manager may be required to attend.
Hours of Duty: Normal working hours are generally 38 hours per week, 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday with a 40 min lunch break per day. Note that we work on a hybrid model and the position is required to attend site 3 x week. During installation of exhibitions the Exhibition Manager is on site 5 days x week, local accommodation may be provided.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000 plus 12% super

Other requirements
The employee must hold a full current driver’s license and own a registered vehicle to travel to and from work. The role requires a Working with Children Check and a Criminal History Check. The employee must have working rights in Australia.
TarraWarra Museum of Art
TarraWarra Museum of Art is a unique institution within Australia. Located on Wurundjeri Country in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, it was founded by Marc Besen AC and the late Eva Besen AO, who not only gifted the award-winning purpose-built Museum designed by the late Allan Powell, they also donated over 600 works of Australian art from their private collection. Welcoming audiences since 2003, TarraWarra is a leading not-for-profit public art gallery that features inventive and stimulating exhibitions and programs about 20th and 21st century art.
TarraWarra Museum of Art has a national and international reputation for curating significant exhibitions and programs with Australian and international contemporary artists and curators. The Museum presents three to four major exhibitions per year featuring Australian and internationalmodern and contemporary artists and guest curators.
TarraWarra Museum of Art understands the vital role that art can play in fostering a culture and a community that proudly recognises and respects the creative expressions, living traditions, deep knowledge systems, diverse talents, and abiding connection to Country of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia. Through the presentation of a range of stimulating, innovative and challenging commissions, exhibitions, public programs, and learning and engagement activities we have provided opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples to share with our audiences their diverse artistic and cultural practices, express their historical experiences and convey their unique contemporary perspectives and insights. From July 2023–July 2025, the Museum implemented its first Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan which involves the full support and commitment of all management and staff.

The Exhibition Manager supports the TarraWarra Museum of Art team in the delivery of exhibitions. This role is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of exhibitions from inception to conclusion, ensuring the smooth running of all logistics and adherence to defined budgets. Exhibitions are required to be delivered to a high standard of professional excellence.
