Help shape bold, ambitious arts projects for girls and women across Australia.

The House That Dan Built is seeking an experienced Executive  Producer to join our senior leadership team.

This role offers the opportunity to work across creative producing, fundraising, touring and arts leadership within an established independent arts organisation.

The House That Dan Built creates large-scale participatory works, new music, community-led performance and youth arts programs that centre the voices of girls and women. Our work spans metropolitan, regional and international contexts.

The Strategic Producer will join a small executive team of three, working alongside the Artistic Director & CEO and Manager of Engagement, to transform ambitious artistic ideas into sustainable, funded and professionally delivered outcomes.

This role is equal parts producer, strategist, fundraiser and operational leader.

About the Role

The Creative & Strategic Producer leads the company’s producing, business development, fundraising, touring strategy and organisational systems.

You will drive the systems, partnerships and resources that allow artistic work to thrive.

This role oversees:

  • Major project producing
  • National and international touring strategy
  • Grant writing and acquittals
  • Philanthropy and sponsorship
  • Contracts, payroll and compliance
  • Producer and workforce management
  • Organisational growth and strategic planning

Key Responsibilities

Producing & Touring

  • Lead producing strategy across all major House projects
  • Develop national and international touring pathways
  • Build relationships with festivals, venues and presenting partners
  • Identify co-producing and commissioning opportunities
  • Oversee project planning, budgets and delivery
  • Support community producers delivering local projects

Development & Fundraising

  • Lead grants, applications and acquittals
  • Build relationships with trusts, foundations and philanthropic partners
  • Develop donor campaigns and fundraising strategies
  • Identify new income streams and strategic partnerships
  • Prepare sponsorship and investment proposals

Business Operations

  • Oversee payroll and artist payments
  • Manage contracts for artists, staff and contractors
  • Monitor Fair Work, superannuation and compliance obligations
  • Develop policies, systems and operational frameworks
  • Work closely with accountants, auditors and bookkeepers

Leadership

  • Manage project producers and contract staff
  • Support recruitment and workforce planning
  • Develop leadership pathways for emerging producers
  • Foster a culture of accountability, care and excellence

About You

You are an experienced arts producer or arts manager who understands how to build ambitious artistic work from concept to reality.

You bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience in producing or arts management
  • Proven success securing grants and development income
  • Strong financial literacy and budget management
  • Experience in contracts, governance and compliance
  • Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of touring, festivals and presenting sectors
  • A strategic and entrepreneurial mindset
