Lead the next generation of artists, young people and creative communities.

The House That Dan Built is seeking an experienced Manager of Youth Engagement to join our senior leadership team.

This role offers the opportunity to work across arts education, youth participation, business development and program leadership within an established independent arts organisation.

The House That Dan Built creates large-scale participatory works, new music, community-led performance and youth arts programs that centre the voices of girls and women. Our work spans metropolitan, regional and international contexts.

The Manager of Engagement will join a small executive team of three, working alongside the Artistic Director & CEO and Strategic Producer, to lead the growth, delivery and long-term sustainability of The House’s youth programs.

This role is equal parts educator, producer, strategist and community builder.

About the Role

The Manager of Engagement leads the company’s education, participation and enterprise programs, ensuring high-quality experiences for young people while building strong pathways into artistic and professional careers.

You will drive the systems, partnerships and opportunities that allow young people to thrive.

This role oversees:

  • Toy Choir
  • AKIN – regional songwriting
  • Apprenticeship programs
  • Emerging artist pathways
  • Regional program growth
  • Program business development
  • Participant engagement and retention

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Manage Toy Choir, AKIN and apprenticeship programs
  • Ensure programs maintain high-quality participant experiences
  • Be the public face of The House’s education and youth development programs
  • Develop annual program plans and delivery schedules
  • Manage enrolments and participant pathways
  • Support the growth of new regional programs
  • Ensure evaluation and participant feedback informs future program development

Business Development

  • Grow earned income from Toy Choir
  • Investigate identified investment opportunities for Toy Choir TV
  • Develop new markets, locations and strategic partnerships
  • Build relationships with schools across NSW in 2026 and nationally in 2027
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion
  • Contribute to long-term sustainability planning

Staff & Teaching Artist Management

  • Recruit and manage tutors, facilitators and teaching artists
  • Manage apprentices and emerging staff
  • Coordinate training and professional development
  • Ensure child-safe and participant-focused delivery

Marketing & Communications

  • Ensure program marketing collateral is developed
  • Liaise with marketing staff and contractors
  • Manage parent communications
  • Oversee enrolment campaigns
  • Support audience and participant growth

Administration

  • Manage invoicing and participant records
  • Monitor program budgets
  • Track participation and impact data
  • Prepare reports for funders and stakeholders

About You

You are an experienced arts educator, youth program leader or engagement specialist who understands how to build meaningful artistic and developmental pathways for young people.

You bring:

  • Experience in arts education, youth programs or community engagement
  • Strong business development capability
  • Experience managing teams and teaching artists
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Understanding of child-safe practice
  • A strategic and entrepreneurial mindset
