As the leading visual arts organisation in the Riverina, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery inspires a vibrant, innovative, and diverse regional arts culture: engaging with local and national communities, supporting artists, and promoting a flourishing and experimental creative environment accessible to all.

Each year, more than 40,000 visitors experience the Gallery’s exhibitions, events, education programs and public engagement activities.

The Gallery has two nationally significant collections:

  • The National Art Glass Collection, an internationally renowned collection of contemporary Australian glass.
  • The Margaret Carnegie Print Collection, with more than 1,400 works from Australia’s foremost artists.

Your new role

We are seeking an Art Gallery Director with outstanding strategic, management, and leadership skills. This position is responsible for:

  • Managing a multi disciplined team, operations and facilities in line with gallery best practice.
  • Developing and championing an ambitious, innovative, and ethical vision for the Gallery, that engages artists, audiences, and the wider community.
  • Leading the delivery of exhibitions, public programs, and collection management to the highest professional standards.

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive experience in the public gallery sector or a related industry.
  • Professional knowledge of contemporary visual arts and culture, with particular awareness of Australian practice.
  • The ability to inspire, engage and lead a diverse and innovative team.
  • Highly developed skills in leadership, strategic planning, communication, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Remuneration package of $4,101.76 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $4,922.11 gross per fortnight + 12% superannuation
