Fringe Festival season heats up across four states

From a floating venue in Perth to a CBD takeover in Sydney, the Australian Fringe spirit remains independent, irreverent and adaptable.

The largest arts festival in the world, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is readying to kick off, with artists from across the world currently making their way to Scotland. Running from 2-26 August 2019, this year’s Fringe will host over 50,000 performances of over 3,500 shows, including dozens of Australian acts.

Richard Watts is ArtsHub's National Performing Arts Editor; he also presents the weekly program SmartArts on Three Triple R FM, and serves as the Chair of La Mama Theatre's volunteer Committee of Management.
