Celebrate 40 years of creativity, community and artistic excellence at the Watercolour Society of Queensland’s 40th Annual Watercolour Exhibition.
Held at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium from 18-20 September 2026, this free public exhibition showcases original watercolour artworks by Queensland artists, with works available for purchase throughout the weekend.
Visitors can enjoy live painting demonstrations, meet exhibiting artists and participate in interactive “Try Me” activities. Artists and leading art suppliers will be on hand to share materials, techniques and practical advice, giving visitors of all ages and experience levels the opportunity to experience watercolour for themselves.
The 2026 exhibition also marks the launch of the WSQ Emergent Artist Award, a new award recognising excellence in watercolour by artists aged 18 years and under. Established in partnership with the CRE8 Art Prize, the award reflects WSQ’s commitment to encouraging and celebrating the next generation of Queensland artists.
As one of Queensland’s longest-established art societies, WSQ continues to connect artists and communities through exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and creative opportunities across the state.
