The 2026 Loddon Valley Arts Trail festival is ‘Out there, in every way’. From 2 to 4 October, regional Victoria’s Loddon Valley transforms into a 3-day, shire-wide celebration of art, music, creative writing and workshops.
Reimagining the traditional gallery experience, the festival moves art into 30 unexpected and evocative settings – from heritage buildings and rural halls to paddocks, forests and working townships – where landscape, history and creativity naturally intersect.
Festival highlights include:
- Artist Amanda Western’s Red Bricks, a sound and light installation in the sensational East Loddon heritage woolshed at Serpentine
- A tintype photography exhibition in hauntingly beautiful Laanecoorie with Darron Davies creating instant heirloom portraits using historic techniques
- Blues performance by Archer Shepherd in a historic church at Kingower where a unique collection of country wedding photos will be on display
- Carl Panuzzo’s campfire jazz performance in a paddock at Fentons Creek with a view of Mt Kooyoora
- A premiere performance from Michael Johnson’s Pillars of Creation work-in-progress with animated projections of cosmic images, at Hillcrest Farm in Campbells Forest with star-gazing hosted by the Bendigo Astronomers
- The Eucy Art Show, in – where else – the Eucalyptus Distillery Museum in Inglewood
- A huge exhibition capturing “The Look of Loddon” created by a group of Melbourne photographers, “The Images Chasers” displayed in the heart of Loddon’s wide-open agricultural landscape at Calivil
Across the region, tiny towns and small communities become cultural stages for new work by Central Victorian artists, mapping the shire through creativity and place. From Pyramid Hill and Tarnagulla’s layered histories to Boort’s creative energy and Wedderburn’s hands-on craft culture, each location adds its own voice to the program.
Ambitious, accessible and deeply grounded in place, the festival invites visitors, locals and the “young-at-art” to experience a landscape where creativity and country are inseparable – and where every journey reveals something unexpected.
