The Sydney Contemporary Art Fair is celebrating its 10th edition this year! To commemorate the 10th anniversary, two Melbourne artists draw on their shared sensitivity to Australia’s flora and its fringing reefs and have created a collaborative work that will be unveiled in the Works on Paper sector at booth WP10 [Melbourne Studios]
Titled CONFLUENCE, this collaborative artist book brings together the distinct printmaking practices of Trudy Rice and Lisa Sewards in a dialogue connecting land and sea. The work reflects on connection: between artists, between mediums, and between ecosystems.
Created as a dos-à-dos structure, the work unfolds in concertina pages inviting the viewer to navigate the work from multiple directions.
The artworks consist of polymer gravure etchings and monoprints on beautiful cotton rag and Japanese printmaking papers. The engraved metal plaques on the two covers acknowledge the artists and Sydney Contemporary’s anniversary. There are sixteen doubled sided pages and variable display options. Its length is 290cm, height 20cm and closed measures 20x20x5.5cm
Guests attending this premier art fair are invited to view this beautiful commemorative work that is available for acquisition. Enquiries to [email protected]
Both artists will also showcase new framed works.
