Performances, arts and activities for everyone, all weekend!

Over three days, a corner of the carpark at Preston Market will be transformed into a vivid hub for Darebin FUSE Festival. Come and experience the centrepiece, THE CUBE by Born in a Taxi, a freestanding, transparent arts-space which will host a smorgasbord of performances and creative activities over the weekend.

All activities are FREE to attend and suitable for all ages!

ENLIGHTEN by Born in a Taxi

Joyful, participatory, profound, and playful, Enlighten is a meditation on what unites us. 

As night begins to fall, light and sound explode from inside a transparent CUBE. Three illuminated angels float through the crowd drawing them into playful, interactive rituals before they enter the mysterious CUBE.

Preston Market x Primavera Latin Market: NIGHT MARKET

A Preston Market first, teaming up with Yo So Collective to present the inaugural night market. Featuring live music, Latin DJs, a maker’s market, and delicious food.

L2R Dance Takeover

Get ready to move! L2R Dance is taking over THE CUBE for an electrifying 3-hour Fam Jam – a celebration of community and street dance.  Bringing Melbourne’s West to the North, L2R Dance is a not-for-profit on a mission to make the arts accessible for all. Watch incredible local street dancers battle it out and exchange inside THE CUBE!

MC and DJ Antagonize will keep the vibe alive with your favourite hip hop tracks and freestyles. Then jump in yourself! L2R’s inclusive dance workshops are designed to get everyone up and grooving, all ages, all abilities!   Feel the power of dance and hip hop – where movement meets community.

Un-BEET-able: Kids’ Choir x Preston Market Stallholders Performance

A collaboration with Born in a Taxi, Preston Market and Wales St Primary Rock Choir: the ancient art of spruiking meets the voice of the next generation in a cheeky love song to the food that sustains us and the people who bring it to our kitchens. 

BrAVOCADO! An eLEMONtary PEARformance featuring subLIME local apPEARances, from Preston Market royalty. It SHALLOT be mediOKRA. 

We aPEEL to your sense of FUNgi and imPEACH you to come and join the misCHIVE with the Wales St Primary School Fruit Choir.  

ROMAINE calm and carry on and everything will be CHILLI.  

You don’t need encourage-MINT, this is a big DILL, like nothing you’ve ever BEAN part of.

SKNOW x Jackie Sheppard Live Performance

FUSE Festival, audio-visual electronic artist SKNOW (Wiradjuri) and mixed-medium movement artist Jackie Sheppard (Tagalaka/Dagalag) will present a striking collaborative performance. Together, they will harness SKNOW’s fluid form, transcending through live vocals and recorded sounds of Country, breaking down the harsh boundaries of genre. In speaking to sovereignty, embodied culture and lived experience, Jackie Sheppard will move in dialogue with sound, presenting a reciprocal performance that reflects generations of storytelling through different mediums.

ECO ART WORKSHOPS with Public Assembly, Simulaa, Slow Art Collective and Playte

Tune your senses into the ecological world through hands-on workshops and interactive demonstrations. Learn earth block making, natural dyeing, urban foraging and deep listening practices with artists, architects, and sustainability practitioners taking inspiring climate action.
