Join us for a special celebration marking the 50th anniversary of land rights as the Araluen Cultural Precinct comes alive with contemporary Aboriginal art, music and culture from across the Central Desert region.
At 5pm the Araluen Galleries open for a preview of the 35th edition of Desert Mob and the Vincent Lingiari Art Award exhibitions – and the exclusive opportunity to acquire works from both exhibitions before they go live online Friday morning.
The galleries remain open during the evening with food and refreshments available throughout the precinct.
As the sun sets, the prestigious Vincent Lingiari Art Award and the CLC Delegates’ Choice Award will be announced and presented to the winning artists by special guests, Lingiari family representatives, Rosie Smiler and Trisha Smiler, and CLC Chair, Warren Williams.
To complete a memorable evening, experience the expansive, yet intimate, sounds of virtuoso Mudburra and Garrawa performer Eleanor Jawurlngali, as she takes centre stage with collaborators Mick Turner and Stephanie Arnold. Drawing on ancestral stories and deep listening practices, Jawurlngali’s music is a unique blend of traditional language and contemporary expression.
Bring your family and friends and join artists from across Central Australia to enjoy art, food and music under the desert night sky.
