How to appreciate the creative process, not the outcome

How can we learn to relish our creative practice for the wisdom it teaches us, without being obsessed with success as an outcome?

Although being driven by the success of a project can be an excellent motivator, it can also cause psychological torment, especially if you’re relying on someone else to validate what that success should look like.

Judith Bowtell, an executive coach in the arts industry, says instead of looking for commercial success, we should learn to appreciate the creative process.

‘There’s so much luck involved in order to have the major success that people compare themselves to, including being in the right place at the right time  – it’s like lightning striking,’ Bowtell told ArtsHub.
