For most of us, the content of our recycle bins is a barometer of domestic activity, illuminating particularly social or frugal weeks. Wheeling the bin out for weekly collection can elicit a sense of nostalgia, pride or shame in the past.

For Claire Tracey, a Melbourne artist who uses recycled and upcycled material to promote ideas of responsible waste management, rubbish is an artwork that hasn’t yet been started.
