NSW welcomes plan to increase venue capacity by 50%

In a major step forward for the performing arts industry, entertainment facilities across NSW have been able to increase their audience capacity to 50% from this week.

The NSW performing arts sector has responded with relief to the recent announcement by Create NSW that entertainment facilities including theatres, cinemas, and concert halls will be able to sell tickets for seated events at 50% per cent of capacity, to a maximum of 1,000 tickets, as of Thursday 1 October.

Previously, companies such as Belvoir and Sydney Theatre Company were operating at less than a third audience capacity because of COVID-safe regulations.
