New terror film Bastille Day has been withdrawn from French cinemas because life overtook art in the Nice terrorist attack.

The thriller dramatises a planned terrorist attack on Bastille Day and was released just a day before Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel ploughed a 19-tonne truck into a crowd celebrating the national holiday, killing 84 people and injuring 303.

The film’s slogan This year they will become the fireworks” was plastered across bus stops and posters in France at the time of the attack on a crowd watching a Bastille Day fireworks celebration, a widespread Bastille Day activity to celebrate the anniversary of the beginning of the French Revolution.
