Sydney’s cultural institutions are recognised globally and the city is home to some of Australia’s major cultural events, including the Biennale of Sydney, Sculpture by the Sea, Sydney Festival, and a more recent addition, Vivid Sydney. With the City of Sydney alone investing $36.5 million in the capital’s cultural life each year, Sydney has an undeniably rich and vibrant arts sector.

‘Art has the ability to enrich the cultural fabric of a city, inspiring creativity in its residents and visitors, and creating a destination that people from across the globe want to be a part of,’ said NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres.

‘This can be a challenging ideal to live up to but I believe Sydney is getting it right with the spectrum of our arts and culture offerings continuing to resonate with Sydneysiders and visitors alike.’
