On Saturday 12 August, the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) is throwing open its doors for its annual Open Day. AFTRS Open Day is an opportunity for prospective students to learn about 2018 courses and experience what Australia’s premier film and broadcast school has to offer. 

Future-focused and industry-relevant, AFTRS courses are offered at Bachelor, Diploma and Postgraduate levels. AFTRS provides unrivalled opportunities for its students to find their voice as Australian screen storytellers while developing skills and professional networks to fast track their chosen career. 

Consistently rated one of the best film schools in the world, AFTRS graduates are highly sought after and include Academy Award winners Margaret Sixel (Film Editing: Mad Max, Fury Road), David White (Sound Editing Mad Max: Fury Road) and Jane Campion (Best Original Screenplay The Piano).

AFTRS 2018 Courses – Applications Open 

Bachelor of Arts Screen 

Develop your voice as an Australian Screen Storyteller and become a multi-skilled content creator across platforms. 

Full time, 3 years, applications close 3 October.

Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas 

AFTRS offer eight skills based Diplomas and eight Advanced Diplomas to help you upskill or diversify your skill set. These courses are in a wide range of disciplines, ranging from Production Design, Screenwriting and Social Media Content Creation to Animation and VFX, Editing, Colour Grading and Production Sound. 

Part time, six or 12 months. Applications close 1 December.

Graduate Certificates  

Discover and develop your creative voice, take the next career step, or transition to a new career with a graduate certificate. Graduate certificates are offered across seven disciplines, including Cinematography, Creative Producing, Directing, Documentary, Screenwriting, Music and Editing. 

Part time, 12 months. Applications close 16 October

Master of Arts Screen 

AFTRS Master of Arts: Screen is an intensive and immersive career accelerator aligned to industry to fast-track students to leadership positions. At AFTRS graduates can complete a Masters degree in one of ten disciplines, including Animation, Production Design, Screenwriting, Directing, Producing Cinematography, Documentary, Music and Editing. 

Full time, 2 years. Applications close 16 October

Mater of Arts Screen (Business & Leadership) 

AFTRS also offer a Masters in Business and Leadership, which helps graduates acquire the skills and knowledge to succeed and thrive as leaders in today’s fast-moving screen business environment. 

Part time, two years. Applications close 16 October.

Radio Courses

These hands-on and highly practical courses are designed for tomorrow’s on-air and behind-the-scenes broadcasters. Realise your potential to create and deliver compelling, innovative content for radio and digital platforms. 

Six and twelve month courses. Applications close between 16 October and 1 December.
