Overview
Cardinia Volunteers Exhibition will celebrate and recognise the contribution of volunteers across Cardinia and is intended to be presented in conjunction with the launch of the CSC Volunteers Policy 2027. The project will connect volunteers, community groups and local organisations from across Cardinia with a lead artist to participate in and contribute to an immersive and high-quality exhibition which reflects diverse volunteer experiences, stories and perspectives.

Lead Artist(s): Expectations and Selection Criteria
The appointed artist(s) will work closely with Cardinia volunteers, community groups and Council staff to shape the exhibition themes, content and final outcomes which reflects the Cardinia Shire Volunteer community. This will be a professional, high-quality outcome interpreting the stories and contribution of Cardinia’s volunteers (not a collection of community artworks). This exhibition has flexibility to include multiple outcomes such as community activated workshop /residency space. The result will highlight the benefits of volunteers, it’s positive impact on both the community and individual mental health and connection. It will celebrate our volunteers and provide a novel and immersive experience for visitors to the space.

The artist(s) will be expected to spend time in person with community groups and individuals. Attending meetings, events and places of work to immerse themselves in Cardinia’s volunteer community. The artist fee is reflective of the expected time and travel required in addition to creation of the exhibition outcome.

The panel will be considering artistic merit, demonstrated experience in community arts engagement, and capacity to manage and deliver participatory arts projects. The successful lead artist(s) will have a body of practice which includes working with community with their own high-quality artistic outcomes.
