City of Melbourne, in partnership with the Hero Apartment Building Owners Corporation, is commissioning a new billboard-scale artwork for this iconic Melbourne building.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for the eighth commission in this high-profile partnership series. Artists living in Victoria, as well as First Nations artists with a strong connection to country, are invited to submit an application

The successful submission installed on the Russell Street face of the building located on the corner of Russell and Little Collins streets, in central Melbourne. 

Applicants are required to submit a short statement and up to a maximum of three images of their work. An artwork proposal is not required for the EOI stage. 

  • Shortlisted artists will receive $1000 each, to develop a preliminary concept proposal. 
  • The selected artist will receive $6000 to deliver the final detailed artwork files.

A digital file of the final artwork will also be accessioned into the City of Melbourne’s Art and Heritage Collection. 

Expressions of Interest close at 5pm on Tuesday 14 July.
