Platform and SIGNAL are excited to present, Language in Flux: a multidisciplinary exhibition that will run from 19 to 29 November 2026.
Language is never fixed. It shifts with who’s speaking, who’s listening, and what world they’re living in. It’s shaped by culture, generation, technology and community and in turn, it shapes how we connect, who we let in, and who gets left out.
Language in Flux is an open call for artists aged 16–25 to explore language not as a fixed set of rules, but as something constantly evolving, breaking down and rebuilding itself as it moves through people, communities and time.
This exhibition brings together four streamlines: General Art, Mural, Screen-based Works and Sound, across SIGNAL’s spaces, public-facing screens and speakers.

Eligibility
- Open to artists aged 16–25 (must be this age at the time of applying) based in or able to exhibit in Melbourne.
- Open to artists at any stage of their practice.
- One submission per artist.
- Applicants may apply to any one of the four streamlines: General Art, Mural, Film or Sound.
- There is no application fee.
Key dates
- Monday 28 September: Applications close at 11:59pm
- Monday 5 October: Outcomes notified
- Monday 16 November: Artwork drop off and install
- Monday 30 November: Artwork pick up and de-install
