ECU Galleries is calling for exhibition proposals for its 2025 program. The two galleries: Spectrum Project Space (SPS) and Gallery25 (G25) provide space for artists at all levels of development. Both galleries are located on the Edith Cowan University, Mount Lawley Campus. Applications for both galleries are open to early, emerging and mid-career artists, established artists, collectives and curators (from independent artists, arts organisations and institutions). We are committed to ensuring that all artists have equal opportunities to access, engage and participate in ECU Galleries activities.
ECU Galleries recognises the importance of Indigenous and First Nations voices, perspectives and agency, and acknowledge sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and acknowledge their connections to land, sea and community.
ECU Galleries has a panel of artists, industry specific academics and staff from creative fields of research, that assess the proposals based on the:
• strength of the application (originality, excellence and concept)
• artist’s practice (resolution of the ideas underpinning the artist’s practice as a whole, quality, relevance and presentation of the application and all supporting material, engagement, research and strength of the application and evidence supported by CV).
• engagement (invite new/different publics, promote industry partnership and community engagement).
• research (merit, relevance and alignment to ECU’s strategic priorities).
The committee also assesses any potential risk, safety and ethics. ECU Galleries welcomes applications from alumni and staff, individual artists, artist collaborations and groups, and curatorial projects. Multi/cross/inter/trans disciplinary approaches to arts practice, as well as touring exhibitions are also encouraged to apply. Please note that ECU Galleries cannot accept proposals from or including students currently enrolled at another Western Australian university.
