Alternate Channels is a new residency supporting experimental artists to develop an ambitious live work
In partnership with Soft Centre, Performance Space and Brand X, Alternate Channels offers experimental artists support through a multi-stage, multi-year pathway from early concept to audience-ready live artwork.
One solo artist or small group (up to 3) from the Greater Sydney region, with a minimum of 5 years of practice, will be selected for Stage 1 of the Alternate Channels Residency with Brand X, a 5-day creative development at the City of Sydney Creative Studios, offering space to test a radical idea and push into new directions.
From there, the project progresses to Stage 2: a guaranteed presentation with Soft Centre, before continuing to Stage 3 with Performance Space for further development & presentation, enabling the work to grow in scale, complexity & ambition over time.
The residency is structured so artists can take risks early, empowered by a guaranteed pathway of future development & presentation.
