Women theatremakers are MTC’s focus in 2016

Having achieved gender parity with directors, the company now seeks to expand its Women Directors Program to other aspects of theatrical production.

On Tuesday 1 September, Brett Sheehy, the Artistic Director of Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) hinted at what was to come in the company’s 2016 season by tweeting: ‘Took 3 years, but 14 productions @MelbTheatreCo in 2016 – 7 directed by women & 7 by men. At last.’
