The future of Burnie iconic Makers’ Workshop is in doubt after the Burnie City Council agreed to transfer the land it stands on to the University of Tasmania.

The Workshop, which houses 43 artists and craftspeople, is a key tourism drawcard for north-western Tasmania, receiving an estimated 1000 visitors a day to see craftwork including glass artists, painters, fibre artists, a whisky maker and a luthier.
