Australia’s flagship institution for contemporary art, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) knows when they are onto a good thing, and that is why they’ve reappointed Simon Mordant as Chair for a further three years.  Given that Mordant is a well known arts philanthropist and contributed $15 million of his own money into the museum’s $53 million redevelopment project, it seems like a wise investment for the gallery.

It will be a busy year for Mordant, who is also the Commissioner for the Australian pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2013. Despite his millions, Mordant is well known for his down to earth nature and the arts community hopes that others who have made their money elsewhere (such as Mordant in investment banking) should contribute in a similar fashion.
