Opportunities and Awards Wrap: New Varuna award and Kat Muscat fellowship winner

2021 Fogarty Literary Award now open, Kat Muscat Fellowship recipient announced, Varuna launches new fellowship program for writers with disability, plus more awards and opportunities.

There are plenty of new opportunities for writers this week! Submissions for the 2021 Fogarty Literary Award are now open for WA authors aged between 18-35 who have an unpublished manuscript to submit. The winner will receive $20,000 and a publishing contract with Fremantle Press for a work of fiction, narrative non-fiction or young adult fiction.

Fremantle Press publisher Georgia Richter, who will judge the award alongside children’s publisher Cate Sutherland and editor Armelle Davies, said she was looking for a writer with a fresh voice and a manuscript that told a great story.
