New Zealand makes Behrouz Boochani a Kiwi writer

New Zealand literary festival WORD played an instrumental part in bringing Kurdish-Iranian asylum seeker Behrouz Boochani to New Zealand.

Award-winning Kurdish-Iranian author Behrouz Boochani is an incredibly important addition to the New Zealand literary community, says WORD Christchurch Festival Director Rachael King.

WORD was instrumental in getting Boochani to New Zealand, his original one-month visitor’s visa having been granted on the strength of an invitation to participate in the 2019 version of the highly-regarded literary festival.
