Neilson Foundation’s $3M gift will support Bell Shakespeare’s flexible new studio

The donation is the largest single gift Bell Shakespeare has received in its 31 year history.

A multipurpose studio space at Bell Shakespeare’s Pier 2/3 headquarters in Sydney’s Walsh Bay Arts Precinct will be made possible thanks to a $3 million gift from the Neilson Foundation.

The new studio and theatre space will feature a fully flexible seating system with capacity for up to 296 people in multiple configurations. To be used for rehearsals, performances and events, the studio will be named The Neilson Nutshell in recognition of the Neilson Foundation’s support.
