London Arts precinct to get $150 million boost

London's Southbank Centre reveals plans for a £100 million upgrade of its Festival Wing.

In a time when governments are tightening their belts and cutting budgets, the British Government is about to inject millions of pounds into a refurbishment of the Southbank Centre’s Festival Wing, bringing the worn-out facilities into the 21st century. The £100m (US$150m) project hopes to solve the urgent problems of poor access and to upgrade stages, galleries and back stage areas.
