The prestigious $35,000 Dr Harold Schenberg art prize has been awarded to Zoe Kirkwood from the University of South Australia for her piece The Neo-Baroque Spectacle.
Kirkwood’s vibrant painted, sculptural and installation works were commended for the pieces engagement with notions of contemporary excess and abundance, indulging in the visual extravagance and opulence of 17th century Baroque but still in a contemporary style.
