Crisis cash for artists fundraiser launched

A new initiative is seeking to raise $1 million to be shared between 1000 independent artists who might otherwise fall through the cracks of existing support networks.

Despite a range of initiatives from local, state and federal governments, too many independent artists are still struggling to pay rent and other necessities in the wake of the creative industries’ nationwide COVID-19 shutdown.

As of 5 April 2020, $350 million in lost income has been recorded by independent artists, many of whom are ineligible for the likes of the Federal Government’s JobKeeper program.

In order to support such artists, Theatre Network Australia (TNA) has launched a new fundraising campaign called 1000 x 1000: Crisis Cash for Artists.
