Festival Pioneer Brett Sheehy was among those appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), following the Queen’s birthday. He has been officially recognised for his ‘distinguished service to the performing and visual arts as a director of national festivals, to international artistic exchange, and through mentoring roles’.

Sheehy responded humbly on Twitter in response to the award, saying: “Thanks all for good wishes on QB Honour. My Mum and Dad up on the Gold Coast are stoked, so that’s the best bit.”
