Opportunities and Awards Wrap

Thrive offers grants of up to $10,000 for Deaf & Disabled artists, nominations announced for Telstra Ballet Dancer Awards, Regional WA artists receive funding boost, and more opportunities and awards.

This week brings many opportunities for creatives, particularly in the visual arts sector. STILL National Still Life Award 2021 is a $30,000 acquisitive award for artists at any stage of their career. Alongside the $30,000 winners prize, there’s also a $5,000 People’s Choice Prize up for grabs with the prize open to all mediums within the genre of still life.

For portrait painters, there’s two opportunities this week. The Southern Buoy Studio Portrait Prize is an annual art prize open to all emerging and established artists across Australia and which celebrates portraiture painting in a contemporary context. Similarly, the 2021 Martin Kantor Portrait Prize is for those interested in portrait painting and is open to all photographers and photo media artists with an opportunity to display the finished work at Ballarat International Foto Biennale from 28 August to 24 October 2021 in Ballarat. The acquisitive first prize is worth $15,000.
