Opened in 1929, the State Theatre has been named one of the 15 most spectacular theatres in the world. Designed by architect Henry Eli White in a magnificent fusion of Gothic, Italian and Art deco features, and housing work by significant Australian artists such as William Dobell and Charles Wheeler, few visitors who have stepped through the doors of Sydney’s State Theatre would downplay its magnificence.
