‘It’s been a real privilege to, not only be the Premier of South Australia, but also to take on the important arts portfolio. I did this because I genuinely think that the arts are in our DNA in South Australia. They’re part of who we are. And they are a major point of differentiation for our state over other states of Australia, other parts of the world.
‘It’s not going to be a static museum, it’s going to be able to have fantastic celebration of ceremony, of dance, of visual arts, of course, artefacts will be there as well, Language, I think that will be a very central part. So will food. I’m very excited about some of the work that we’re doing at the moment through the South Australian Museum to recover some of the lost languages. Tanganekald is the first [language] that we’ve done as part of the Ngarrindjeri Nation. This is a language where really very few if anybody could speak it in South Australia,… [this] is a great opportunity for our state to recover all of those languages which have been lost…’
