The media and business world have been abuzz this week following announcements from Fairfax Media chief executive Greg Hywood that the company is pushing forward with restructuring and cost saving plans.

Up to 90 sub-editors are likely to face redundancies as sub-editing of news, sport and business stories across the companies masthead publications are outsourced to Pagemasters, a global provider of design, editorial and listings services. The company already handles the sub-editing of several supplements for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Canberra Times such as Drive, Good Living and Domain.
