Am I depressed, or just over it?

The most read ArtsHub story over the past 18 months has been Why creative people are more prone to depression.

It echoes what many reports and surveys have revealed – that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant psychological toll on our sector.

But feeling a kind of snowballing impact on your mental health is not just a ‘sensitive artist thing’. In June this year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that one in five (20%) Australians has experienced high or very high levels of psychological distress during the pandemic – a figure that has been pretty consistent since the first lockdowns began in March last year.
